Join us on the eve of Earth Day 2026 at the GIS and Data Lab (Rotch Library, 7-238) for a presentation and workshop about federal environmental data tools and infrastructures. You will learn how some of these tools were preserved by advocates for public data and environmental justice. Participants will explore the functionality of these archived tools together and learn how they support research, environmental protection, and advocacy for vulnerable communities. Participants will also learn about how a broad network of advocates, scientists, and international volunteers led these data archiving efforts and what is the current state of affairs for vulnerable public information.

This event is open to MIT students and researchers across disciplines, especially those working in climate, sustainability, or public-interest technology. No prior expertise or coding experience is required.
