As co-founder of Suriname Indigenous Health Fund, Sarah Augustine encountered a systemic problem arising from mining effluent. With intervention mapping to address social and economic factors impacting indigenous people’s health in Suriname’s interior region, Sarah put her values into action. Now, as co-founder of the Coalition for Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery, she explores how axioms shape systems that lead to outcomes. Sarah will share stories to inspire research that embeds communities in scientific processes that affect policy.
