
Consortium for Climate Solutions wins Environmental Business Council of New England Award for Outstanding Collaboration

The Consortium for Climate Solution, the first-of-its-kind renewable energy aggregation anchored by MIT, Harvard University and Mass General Brigham (MGB) was recently honored by the Environmental Business Council of New England, Inc (EBC) with the EBC Nicholas Humber Award for Outstanding Collaboration. The award recognizes the collaborative project which spurred the development of 408 MW of new renewable energy and includes the 200 MW Big Elm Solar project in Bell County, Texas which came online in 2024, and the 208 MW Bowman Wind project in Bowman County, North Dakota, is expected to come online in 2026. The award highlights the strength of the collaborative effort—which in addition Consortium anchors—included PowerOptions, the City of Cambridge, Beth Israel Lahey Health, Boston Children’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Tufts University, the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, the Museum of Fine Arts, GBH, Foley Hoag LLP, 3Degrees, and Apex Clean Energy.
The projects enabled by the Consortium will achieve large greenhouse gas emissions reductions in two of the most carbon-intensive electrical grid regions in the United States while the Consortium approach serves as a model for other universities, institutions, and municipalities amplify their individual impacts.
About the Award
The Nicholas Humber Award for Outstanding Collaboration recognizes projects which “demonstrates outstanding collaboration between an EBC member and other persons or organizations and which reflects the global environmental values and human spirit exemplified by Nicholas Humber” for whom the award was named.
