Greening MIT

To support the new  greeningMIT initiative, the following series of pages are meant to inform and empower your efforts toward taking action for a more sustainable campus.

Why a more sustainable campus?

In the face of our growing climate challenge, we each have a responsibility to act sustainably in our daily lives as well as through the pioneering research and educational excellence that MIT is known for. By taking action to conserve resources, we can create a more sustainable campus and lead the way toward a more sustainable world.

Why me?

As a member of the MIT community, you help shape the campus culture. Through your commitment and actions, you can support and inspire those around you to make a big collective impact. Together, we can make our campus a beacon of sustainability for universities and organizations across the world.

What is Greening MIT?

Greening MIT is a new initiative of the MIT Energy Initiative's Campus Energy Task Force to engage the entire MIT community in taking action to make our campus more sustainable. Look for the greeningMIT logo around campus to learn more about what you can do to contribute to a greener campus. Contact us to learn more or obtain a greeningMIT postcard to post in your "place" at MIT to show your support for campus sustainability.

Walk the Talk Community Organizing

To coordinate the emerging network of Green Ambassadors and outreach activity associated with the Greening MIT campaign, the MITEI Campus Energy "Walk the Talk" Task Force has set up a "Community Organizing" committee.  We call ourselves WTT-CO.  Regular members include Bill Van Schalkwyk, Niamh Kelly, and Steve Lanou from EHS; Karen Nilsson from Housing; Laxmi Rao from IS&T; Jason Jay, a doctoral student at MIT Sloan; and others interested in moving these efforts forward (could that be you?).
